Since this is a question that come sup often:

Tutorial for resizing pictures with Irfanview on PC.

Although I would recommend cropping before resizing if you need to chop it down a bit.

Maybe throw this in the Instructions to emphasize the picture size limit? Even hidden behind a Spoiler, a 3000 wide picture delays a page load.

I noticed the before of that Infraview resize article is actually near the perfect picture width 0f 720. This keeps the picture managagable and prevents scrolling sideways to read a post.
