Oh the debate over the better shadowrun is very heated and divisive to be sure. As for the Sega cd shadowrun game, it is very much an interactive novel with a grid based and dice based combat system. Lots of dialog, lots of menus. I don't know if I would say it is better than either the snes or genesis. I've been contemplating a category that would put it in the running to be played, but I also have a billion categories to choose from for my month.

Well, dice-based combat and lots of dialogue is pretty much how Shadowrun tabletop plays, so that makes sense.

Ha, that said, the discussion has wet my appetite. I just ordered the Genesis game on eBay.

YAS! Just be warned the game is a bit slow to start as you grind some basic missions to get money and xp but it moves at breakneck pace after you get moving. Building up reputation and earning contacts and resources is a lot of fun and has a bit of that, "gotta catch em all" mentality and it really captures the tabletop feel with random events that happen on the street.

It will be a good skull to add to your pile.

Really? I guess I don't need to mess with the rest, if I've already played the best then. I like Shadowrun on the Mega CD, because the end of it was pretty exhilarating, story-wise, but the RPG aspects were kind of an after-thought, and the hacking was also a little lame.

That's awesome, Ack! I was looking at listings for it on ebay earlier today, but didn't really find one that suited me. Bogus put together a pretty fine sales pitch for it.

This is my humble list in no particular order.

1. Streets of Rage 2
2. Sonic 2
3. Dragon's Fury
4. Rocket Knight Adventures
5. Castle of Illusion
6. Strider
7. Thunder Force 4
8. Gunstar Heroes
9. Aladdin
10. Desert Strike

No particular order, though my top 10 for Genesis could change every time a stiff breeze rolls through because I have so many favorites.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Lots of personal nostalgia attached to this one. One of my favorite platformers of all time.
Streets of Rage 2: Still one of my favorite beat'em ups.
Ghostbusters: Ultimately a kind of middling platformer but near and dear to my heart.
Road Rash 2: The best of the Genesis trilogy. Just a fun game with a lot of memories attached.
Mega Turrican: My favorite game in this franchise and a run 'n gun I just enjoy playing.
Lineage 2 Classic: Best MMO on the market.
Rolling Thunder 2/3: Difficult to pick which one as they both have a lot to offer. I love this oft-forgotten franchise.
MUSHA: Fun gameplay, great music, great graphics and cool robots. It's just everything I want form a 16-bit shmup.
Shinobi III: One of the best ninja action games anywhere.
Thunderforce III: Fun, casual shmup that's not as pretty or exciting as its sequel but I always have the most fun with it.
Gunstar Heroes: Natch'.

Also...great choice on Road Rash II. I almost put it in my list.

I really need to pick up Bloodlines some time, but man has it increased in price massively over the last few years (at least the PAL version - New Generation). It's gone from being a £40-50 ish game to being more of a £90-150 game depending on condition. I nearly scored a cartridge of the NA Bloodlines on Ebay yesterday, but was outbid at 2 seconds to go

Anyways, I'll do my top 10 later once I have had a think about it.
