PAPRIUM (the new beat-em-up from Watermelon)

Did anyone else pre-order this? I don't think it's looking good folks... 6 months with no word. The last thing they posted was the game was delayed due to Paypal locking their account for suspicious behaviour. I mean, just read through the below thread.

Or maybe it's just typical Watermelon drama and the game will eventually come out? Who knows?

Yeah, I pre-ordered, and honestly I'd forgotten about it until I saw this thread.

Guess we'll see what happens...? The money is probably gone at this point one way or the other. You mentioned the typical drama, it's certainly true that everything seems to be a big damn fuss with these people.

*shrug*

I dunno.

Yup, I forgot about it too. I remembered today, thought I'd see if there was any updates I missed and saw that things were looking pretty grim. That said, I just read on their Twitter that they apparently received the money back from Paypal in November and release would be in 2 - 3 months time (posted in January). So I guess we'll have to wait and see (as always)...

I hope this is good. Pier Solar is so damn terrible aside from the OST. Badly designed dungeons and towns. Woefully off balance combat more in favor of enemies. Even points in that game you had to go through a maze dungeon fight enemies then fight a difficult boss, fight your way out of dungeon then fight another boss after a cutscene. Terrible game. A beat em up is less complex so I hope they nail it. Just because of Pier Solar why I won't jump on this.

Eh, it isn't that bad. I never got around to completing it, but what I did play was above average at the least.

Dear xxxxxxx,

You're receiving this message because you have a preorder (or more) at WM's Magical Game Factory !

Thanks for your patience. It's been exactly one year since we started taking orders for PAPRIUM (and a couple more years of wait for our hardcore MGF fans), It's been extremely stressful year for everyone, we bet.

Regarding what's going on:

We had an issue with the DATENMEISTER chip-set manufacturing which resulted in some last minute changes. I've worked round-the-clock for the last couple of weeks to find a workaround and been very scarce on updates, my apologies.

In the next (couple) days we have to adjust the game to reflect those changes. Moreover, in the mean time, there will be an additional round of QC and testing. Rest assured everyone involved has been working hard to solve all the issues and ensure a superior product. Our aim is to deliver the ultimate Mega Drive / SEGA Genesis game, in time for the system 30'th anniversary.

Thanks everyone for your comprehension, and my sincere apology for the lack of news.

PS: We have posted this message on facebook but it took some extra days for the newsletter to send, sorry for the inconvenience.

For the one that would find the extra wait just too much, contact our support for a refund. For the others, a huge thanks, you won't be disappointed !

For any concerns, please contact the costumer support.

Thanks!

I got that email, too. I was mostly relieved to see it, but I found this part a little concerning:

We had an issue with the DATENMEISTER chip-set manufacturing which resulted in some last minute changes... In the next (couple) days we have to adjust the game to reflect those changes.

I wonder if this means content has been cut from the game or something.

Yeah, I'm a bit worried at this point. I sure hope this turns out okay...

It's sadly so predictable though. I knew when I saw that pop in my email that it was going to contain more issues and delays. Sigh... It is what it is. Rightly or wrongly, you just come to expect this with Watermelon.
