I love my retro games, and I love my Sega Mega Drive 2(TM), but unfortunately I just don't have the time to beat a game in one sitting, specially when it's something new so I don't know it by heart, to be able zoom right past it (like I do with the sonic games).
So anyone know of any good platformers or action games for the Mega Drive that have a save or password feature? (not cheat passwords like the Sonic games)
Any good Mega Drive games with a password/save feature?

Castlevania Bloodlines has a password system, but I think it's an annoying one.

I should have mentioned, other than Sonic 3

World of Illusion has a password system, as does Flashback, Road Rash, and Skitchin. Can't think of any more of the top of my head.
Always thought the MD was a bit behind the SNES with this as that seems to have more games with save batteries in them.

Gauntlet IV uses passwords tough I don't remember for which modes, probably Quest mode only.

Yeah its the quest mode and I think there are 4 seperate passwords for each game! and they are really damn long which is why I've never played the quest mode. I'll have to get hold of the rom and emulate as I've heard that its pretty good, but there is no way I'm going to keep putting those passwords in.
Had a look over my shelf and Super Hang On has a career mode with a password, The Immortal, and I think Lotus Turbo Challenge has one too but I may wrong on that one.

It's Sonic 3, and it's actually not a battery powered ram chip. It's solid state.

Also, the Road Rash games all have (long) but comprehensive password saves, on top of being excellent games.

I'm still not sure whether I'm a kid or a squid now.

Shouldn't the Phantasy Star games (2-4) have had a save feature, being RPGs and all? As for the general lack of them, in addition to the Genesis tailoring to the arcade-loving crowd, I think I've read somewhere that Sega officially supported the Game Genie under the condition that they didn't publish any codes for games that save. Games were harder back then, and not being able to use what I assume was a common accessory with your game seems like it would be a turn off to consumers.
