i used to play a lot of nba jam and rbi baseball (i think number 3 or 4 in the series). skitchin is also great and i do believe it's 2 players

Skitchin is one of the best "sports" games EVER.

It is a 2 player game but I don't think I've ever played against anyone before.

I liked micromachines 2 with the 4-player j-cart!

Also pete sampras tennis was great for 4-player action!

Oh! One more I thought of -- I really like Super Baseball 2020 -- I still think its cool to this day.
While its not quite as good as its Neo-Geo original, it is still a great game that gives you something different from traditional sports baseball games.
