Sega Saturn USB controllers

Post by Satoshi_Matrix »

I've thrown caution to the wind and bought two Sega (Saturn) USB controllers off ebay. According to the seller, they are new, authentic, official Sega made controllers fully playable both on PC/Mac and the PS3.

Anyone happen to own any of these? I wonder if I made a good choice. I like the Saturn controller, and I like its Dpad a lot more than the separated one of the PS family. I've heard mixed things about these controllers having rumble as well. Thoughts?

I have one and love it, it's only way I will play 2d fighters on my ps3. To me it feels just like the real thing, I don't believe mine has a rumble feature

I have two and they work great with emulators. Does your controller have the SLS sticker on the back? It seems that the authentic ones have this sticker.

Yeah mine does, I was really hesitant about buying it since it was shipping out of Hong Kong but I was worrying for nothing.

This seems to be where Sega is manufacturing them. The packaging of mine are completely in Japanese, not Chinese. I'm still on the fence if I'll end up using them much for fighting games as I have two excellent sticks - a Hori Real Arcade Pro 2 Special Edition (sanwa parts) with a PS3 adapter and a Mayflash PS2/PS3 stick with sanwa modded parts.

I mostly hoping it will be a good fit for Megaman 9 and 10.

I believe the official SLS pads are new old stock from the 90s. I got a USB pad from the PlaySega promotion, and it was a shitty knockoff. The D-pad broke in about a week. I figure if Sega were still making any of them they'd have made the PlaySega controllers too.

After that POS broke, I did get an SLS pad. They really are fantastic. So nice that I bought 2 more. I've been playing a lot of DDP and Touhou 6 with mine.
