Re: how do you preserve your consoles?
Funny you should ask that. I'll start with saying that I keep those systems in the original box and/or a protective carrying case. As for the batteries: for Nintendo systems I keep them in because the parasitic drain is so tiny I've had DS's not touched in three years and still had half of the batt...

Re: how do you preserve your consoles?
I'm surprised no one has asked this yet, but what have you all done to protect systems with LCD screens and non-removable batteries? The system i'm most cornerned about protecting right now is the PS Vita. I realize you can open up the vita and disconnect the lithium battery, but the process for ope...

Re: The Master System Appreciation Thread
I imagine it's the same as the appeal of playing on an original toaster NES which is a completely idiotic design. It's purely nostalgia and there's no secret benefit to playing on a legitimate system (unless you want to play Snail Maze and don't want to download a ROM I guess). I didn't grow up wit...

Re: Disc Rot and how should I handle it.
It's real, but it's not widespread. I've got a few Dreamcast games that show signs of disc rot, including (sniffle) my copy of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 . Although it still seems to play just fine, so it might not be in spots that affect things. I read that Dreamcast games seemed to have more problems th...

1. Rez
2. Chaos Field/Mars Matrix (I can't decide between the two)
3. Capcom vs SNK 2

Re: The Master System Appreciation Thread
I understand the appeal of the games for this system, I myself am currently playing quite a few titles, but what is the appeal of playing on the original hardware? I realize this question may have been asked many times before, but the master system's hardware, namely the controller and sound process...

Re: Together Retro: Street Fighter III
I hope everyone here knows about Fightcade. Its essentially IRC+GGPO+Final Burn Alpha, or in laymen's terms, its a way for you to play arcade games against random people on the internet. Its been a great way for those of us who don't have either of the previous generation consoles or have stopped pa...
